First United Methodist Church Ann Arbor, 120 S State St, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104

Hello all! We would like to formally invite you to the upcoming event in the Red Shoe concert's series! We have a special night of collaboration that is brought in help with artist Rebecca HH Rosen, the organization Detroit Youth Volume as well as the greater SE Michigan community.

With a space provided by First United Methodist church, we are excited to curate a night of communal celebration, evoking ear canals- caressingly - in order to carve a space for new understanding in the mind. *There will be live music in a chamber setting with the genre's not aligning to any specific. Ear plugs are not recommended but welcomed.

The concert starts at 7 pm (Doors open 6:45pm) , and will be finished by 8 pm. Follow the show will be a reception, dialogue, and Q/A with all the groups. The order consists of Red Shoe performing Tanner Porter's "Six Sides from the Shape of Us" followed by respective sets by Rebecca HH Rosen and the kids of Detroit Youth Volume!

Admission is donation based. There will be a donation box to support the artists as well as a separate table to make donations to Detroit Youth Volume. Please bring your coziest wardrobe and friend. See you there.

Special thanks to all our sponsors, FUMC, Spencer Schaefer, Hanna Rumora, Tanner Porter, and Rebecca Rosen.

Red Shoe Company: Red Shoe Company’s mission is to craft a new concert environment that degenrifies music, speaks to the needs of a modern audience, and encourages new ways of thinking about and acting on socio-cultural issues of our time. Red Shoe Company is a collective which creates multi-genre events in venues ranging from traditional concert halls to gather spaces of all types. Founded in Ann Arbor, MI, RSC’s mission is to craft a new concert environment that degenrifies music, speaks to the needs of a modern audience, and encourages new ways of thinking about and acting on socio-cultural issues of our time.

RSC prioritizes multidisciplinary learning at all ages. We are excited to continue our "First Fridays" residency with the residents of the Sanctuary at St. Joseph's Village in Ypsilanti, MI as well as hold events for AAPS students.

Detroit Youth Volume: DYV teaches youth ages 3-18 to play violin and viola using the world-class Suzuki method to nurture students' ability to persevere, be creative, embrace hope, and to collaborate and empathize with others.

Since 2010, DYV has made quality arts education free & accessible to low-income families, especially youth from Capuchin Soup Kitchen. Paying and scholarship students alike receive the same excellent music education.

Collaborations with local artists as guest instructors develop positive cultural identities in our students as Detroiters and as youth of color (applicable to 70% of our kids). Check out our Special Projects from past years celebrating hip hop, jazz & techno.

Donations can be made on the website, or at the show on November 30th.

Rebecca HH Rosen:

Rebecca HH Rosen, a singer-songwriter with a background in classical music and free improvisation. Since 2014, she has been touring the country with groups ranging from attic-folk to neo-soul. She’s now finding her own voice with minimalist strings and strong vocal melodies to support deep yet piercing lyrics. Her words are inspired by a decade-long relationship with yoga, mindfulness and meditation, alongside sounds inspired by Regina Spektor, Ella Fitzgerald and yMusic. From personal experience and playful imagination, this set will include songs for love, for nature and for the child in us all.
